I have always wanted an apothecary dresser because they are so old world and interesting. but the antique ones are so expensive I would have never been able to afford one and the new reproductions were about $6000, so forget about it! Then I saw an IKEA hack on Youtube and saw that I could actually make a large majestic looking Apothecary Dresser for a lot less money. Now, this particular project calls for two IKEA dressers that are about $600, which was $300 each, but I realized you could actually use any dresser you might find on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to make one of these as well. Also, the project the Youtuber made was really large, this apothecary cabinet would work in any size, even miniature. So this is how it8217;s done and it8217;s not difficult at all.
- IKEA Dressers (or any dresser will work)
- A Saw
- An Angle Ruler
- Apothecary Brass Cabinet Pulls
- Apothecary Screw-In Card Holders
First, assemble your dresser from IKEA or get your regular (any source dresser ready this project would also work well with furniture in the raw type of dresser with drawers).
Then measure to the exact middle of your drawers and saw a light scoring in the front and at the top and bottom of your drawer front.
Then Measure to the exact middle of your drawer fronts and mark, then set your apothecary drawer pulls and your cute little old-world style cardholders.
